What You Need To Setup A Garage Gym

A home gym is a dream for many, however the expense keeps many people back. However some planning and the appropriate equipment you can realize your dream of working out from home.

In this article you’re about to discover that fancy machines and expensive equipment isn’t necessary for a good quality home gym set up.  Actuallyyou can have a quality workout without spending too much.Think back to the Rocky movies when he was training in Russia  It doesn’t take much to set up a garage gym and get a great workout.

Below is a simple list of exercise equipment you will need to get started with your own garage gym.

Note that the list is more tailored for someone looking to build muscle and burn fat. It’s more of a garage gym setup than your typical home gym set up.  There aren’t any cardio machines or exercise equipment.   But you still have everything you need to burn fat and build muscle.

Home Gym Equipment List

To get started you genuinely only need three or four things. It doesn’t have to run you much and you can get a killer full body workout.

With these first 3 pieces of equipment on the list you will be able to get bigger and stronger in the gym and get lean.

 One. Bars

The barbell is the 1st piece of essential equipment you’re going to need to get. If you’re serious about building muscle you have to look at barbell workouts.

Because that’s the best way to build lean muscle mass.

Because this is the main piece of equipment you going to buy, it’s worth spending all extra money on. This is going to be the most expensive piece of equipment you buy. A quality barbell is something you will have forever. An Olympic bar is made to be dropped, great for when you’re training alone and doing some of the more complicated lifts.

There isn’t any need to go by a competition bar, you’ll be served well with training bar.

2. Weight Plates

Your bar is going to need some weight, so this is the next step. Your best option is to find bumper plates. If you wonder what bumper plates are, they’re the big rubber plates designed to be dropped. If you haven’t seen these before they are the big fat rubber weights used by Olympic lifters. You want these because they are safe to drop and throw around.

This is my recommended list of weights.

Bumper plates do run a bit more, so there’s going to be a mix of both.

Bumpers

4 – 45lbs bumper plates

4 – 25lbs bumper plates

Iron Plates

4 – 10 pounds metal plates

2 – 2.5 pounds metal plates

2 – 1.25 pounds metal plates

There is any need for 35 pound plates.

3. Flooring

To finish off the list of must have garage gym equipment is the floor. You don’t need to buy any fancy flooring.  What I have found to be the best bang for the buck is, horse stall mats and a sheet of plywood. Those rubber mats are as tough as nails and will stand up to anything you throw at it.

Turn up the music, eats some healthy muscle building meals  put that bar and bumper plates to use, and you will build some serious muscle mass all from your home gym.

You now have yourself a home gym. This is all you really need to get started. To get going you really don’t need anything more than this. You really don’t need too much more, but for a variety and when finances become available feel free to add more items.

Feel free to add in some body weight exercises
